Are you a Good F.....?

Are you a Good F.....?

July 18, 20233 min read

Two questions for you

Are you a good friend?

What would you do if a good friend was having a bad time?

If a good friend of yours had a problem or they were going through a bad time...

How would you show up for them?

⭐️Would you drop what you are doing to help in a time of need?

⭐️Would you listen as they vented about a something that had happened?

⭐️Would you give a hug? (COVID allowing!)

⭐️Would or make some tea/pour them a glass of wine?

⭐️Would you get angry for them if they experienced something unfair?

⭐️Would you try to make them smile?

⭐️Would you help them feel safe and supported?

I'm sure you can make a good long list!

Second Question

Do you Fear Ants?

⭐️False

⭐️Evidence

⭐️Appearing

⭐️Real

⭐️Automatic

⭐️Negative

⭐️Thoughts

When we fear something those automatic negative thoughts, turn into the voices in our head..

Today we are going to find a way of destroying the negative way we speak to ourselves.

 Grab a pen and paper.

I want you to write down some of the negative stuff you say to yourself....

  • Too old

  • Not good enough

  • Rubbish

  • What if...

  • Failure

  • Hopeless

  • Useless

We are going to turn this around - don't panic, just keep writing.

  • I'm so indecisive.

  • I'm not good enough.

  • I don't want other people to think I'm bossy, know it all, arrogant, cleverer than them.

  • I don't have as much talent as others.

  • I'm going to fail so why bother.

  • I don't deserve it.

  • I am not... enough.

  • I always fail...

  • I'm fat.

  • I'm ugly, stupid.

We don't we speak to ourselves the way we should, we don't speak to ourselves in a way we want others to speak to us or how we would speak to others.

Now Write down the worst thing you have EVER said to yourself.

Now take this sheet of paper and find your youngest child, cousin, niece, or godchild and (imagine) telling them those above things.

You can't/wouldn't - would you?

You can’t say those things to someone else! and you wouldn't say them to someone in this group and probably not even to your worst enemy.

If you had a best friend and she rang you up and said she'd just been fired, demoted, husband has left her - would you say?

  • Well yes you didn't deserve him.

  • You’re not enough.

  • You always fail.

  • You’re fat.

  • You’re a failure.

OF COURSE, YOU WOULDN'T

You would never speak to your best friend or any friend or colleague like that.

How many times have you not been there for yourself and not be there being your own best friend?

You must be and should be your own best friend!

This piece of paper with these horrible things on I want you to rip up and later I want you to take them to the kitchen sink and (safely) burn them.

Now we are going to write some good statements about ourselves!

let’s go.

here are some ideas...

The Good Friend list you made in question 1 is a good start!

  • Resourceful

  • Inspiring

  • Supportive

  • Helpful

  • Generous

  • Beautiful

  • Organised
